Keryn Hyslop. Original artwork 30cm x 30cm. Mixed media. Acrylic, watercolour and paper on canvas in a drop in pine frame.
Blue Wrens in Swamp Banksia Banksia robur
Inspiration for this piece came from time spent in the bushland over an extended period of time at ‘The Bay’ in Brisbane, also known as Wynnum Manly and Lota and seeing these wonderful little birds flitting in and around the flowers. A stylised vase has been used to display the flowers, as I love flowers and native flowers and have a lot of different vases too.
The Bay is an international shorebird area and every year many birds arrive to the welcome of the greater Brisbane region. Some are residents who live in the area all year long.
Each piece is handcrafted as an one off original and is an artistic representation of the scene, not an accurate scientific potrayal. The edge of the canvas is left rough to give an artisan edge style. Other elements (including bird, leaves, flowers) are often worn or marked, bent, or twisted, creased or not have a clean cut edge this may be the painted, drawn, illustrated or paper (collage) parts. This is intentional and is part of the way I create, partly due to my disabilities and partly to illustrate the character of the element. It’s not perfect and that’s the intention, and the beauty to embrace within your own life and self. Forgiveness and acceptance, love for those parts.
Hope you enjoy and thank you for purchasing my artwork I hope it brings you peace and happiness in your home, or as a gift to someone else.
Pick up in Brisbane, or delivery/postage arrangement may be made. Just email me for more information and your needs.
