Come In Out Of The Rain

Come In Out Of The Rain is an original Australian mixed media artwork inspired by the Moreton Bay region around Wynnum, Manly and Lota, Brisbane. It is from the Access series.

Two Australian oystercatchers stand together at the edge of the water as rain falls around them. Behind the birds, a rich and glorious sunset glows through the weather, while silvery drops catch the light across the deep blue sky and water.

The contrast between the warm gold of the sunset, the cool blues and the bright silver rain captures one of those fleeting moments familiar along the Moreton Bay foreshore — when the weather changes, the light shifts and the landscape becomes something quite extraordinary.

The oystercatchers are individually handmade from paper and acrylic, layered over a richly textured acrylic background. Ink raindrops adding another tactile element to the scene.

There is something wonderfully Australian about simply standing there and watching the weather come across the bay. Sometimes you get rain, sunset and birds all at once.

Materials: Mixed media — acrylic, ink and handmade paper on canvas
Size: 30 × 30 cm
Frame: Pine
Ready to hang
Certificate of Authenticity included
