Give Me This Land (Receive) is an original mixed media artwork inspired by the coastline of the Central Coast of New South Wales, at The Peninsula, the Umina and Ocean Beach area.
Two sea eagles approach the beach over the sea flying around the Barrenjoey Headland with its historic lighthouse seen across the water — a small but familiar landmark within this coastal landscape.
The sea eagles are handmade from paper and ink, while handmade paper leaves painted in watercolour provide a leafy canopy overhead. An acrylic-painted background creates the sea, sky and shoreline, bringing the different handmade elements together.
The title Give Me This Land (Receive) speaks of long voyages and returning home. The sea eagles symbolise strength, freedom, resilience, power and freedom.
